Intricate project: Planters create green environment

Planters adds life to Adnec atrium

Ficus trees create natural green environment

Leading landscape firm Planters recently installed three artificial ficus trees within the atrium of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (Adnec) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

As the exhibition centre is operational, Planters was tasked with building the trees in a separate area and then moving them to the designated location.

The ficus trees measure 5.5 m in height with a canopy span of 4 m. The trees were carefully sculpted and erected by the Planters team, ensuring that they complemented the atrium giving a very natural green aesthetic environment, according to Jonathan Pardoe, managing partner, Planters.

“This was an exciting and intricate project for Planters to contribute towards, and we’re privileged to have worked with the designer Huda Al Mughrabi in order to complete the project to deadline.  It was important to create a natural element within the atrium at Adnec and to complement the existing design of the centre,” he said.

Earlier Planters created a Parisian atmosphere within the Rolls Royce and BMW showrooms in Abu Dhabi, complementing the luxury of the two brands with a touch of nature.

“The sleek, elegant and modern lines of the showrooms reflect the ambience of a prestigious cafe which has been enhanced with the addition of an ‘avenue’ of preserved palm trees, together with live planting in state-of-the-art hammered stainless steel planters and wood design pots,” Pardoe said.

Planters specialises in the creation and installation of preserved palm trees. With heights ranging from 4.7 m to 8 m tall, the trees were carefully sculpted and maintained, ensuring that the site was free from dust before they could be installed in the showrooms.

“The Rolls Royce and BWM showrooms contract was a prestigious project for Planters to contribute towards and we’re privileged to have had the opportunity to work with the lead designer Sameer Daoud of Diar Consult. We pride ourselves on our ability to listen to the client, discuss the options and practicalities, and then deliver the finished project to deadline as promised.

Adding the natural element to these exquisitely designed showrooms creates an atmosphere that is sophisticated and inviting, and we’re delighted with the end result,” Pardoe added.
