The House of Chopard reopens in Mall of the Emirates
THE House of Chopard has reopened its new-concept boutique at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, UAE. The new 539-sq-ft Chopard boutique is located on the second floor of the mall and is first of the six Chopard boutiques in Dubai to bear the new design concept.
The boutique derives its composition and inspiration from the new Chopard boutique concept that was successfully introduced end of 2007, with the opening of a flagship store in New York, 709 Madison Avenue, a prominent address in the heart of the Big Apple’s luxury shopping district. The new concept bears the signature of the eminent and celebrated French architect Thierry Despont.
Based on the idea that Chopard represents a symbiosis of centuryold family traditions and high-tech creations and innovations, Despont reinterpreted the design codes in a contemporary style.
The fundamental spirit, a boutique reminiscent of a beautiful, welcoming home, has been maintained with a fresh approach that is reflective of the brand’s DNA and illustrious history but which continues to remain innovative. The use of fine leather for the wall panels, store fixtures and furniture fronts evoke a sense of luxury, warmth and familiarity. Luscious velvet is used for the curtains and upholstery of chairs for a sense of opulence. Eliminating the destruction of trees, and as a concern for the conservation of the ecology and the environment, renewable woods are being used under this boutique concept.
Born in France and trained in Paris, with an additional degree from Harvard University, Despont is a master architect and designer. Despont was associate architect for the Centennial Restoration of the Statue of Liberty, and designed the Decorative Arts galleries of the new John Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles as well as the renovation of the Claridge’s Hotel in London. Despont’s boutique concept is the perfect stage upon which to view Chopard’s collections now and in the years to come. This successful new contemporary and yet cosy concept has now been applied to the Chopard boutique of Dubai to offer its customers a truly luxury experience.
The Geneva-based company takes great pride in creating and crafting in-house high-precision timepieces and magnificent jewels that embody imaginative design and sophisticated elegance. Chopard now has 130 Boutiques worldwide, in diverse geographical locations such as Geneva, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Paris, Dubai, London, New York City or St Barth…and 1,600 points of sales worldwide. |
