Adding to the ranks of swish homeware retail brands is the Middle East is the American chain Crate and Barrel. Carol and John Segal, co-founders of the chain, actually started off displaying wares they bought on their travels in their shipping crates and barrels. They’ve come a long way since then. Crate and Barrel today is a multimillion dollar enterprise with 7500 staff and 177 stores, but the brand still stands for affordable, tasteful home décor.
The store stocks everything needed to decorate a home: from big-ticket furniture to smaller accessories, especially glassware, pottery and ceramics, bed linen and rugs.
The Crate and Barrel family of brands now includes its more modern off-shoot, CB2, and childrens’ home furnishings retailer, The Land of Nod. The brand also publishes a popular catalogue featuring furniture collections, ready-to-assemble furniture, contemporary table setting and accessories for home.
The first Crate and Barrel stores in the Middle East will open at Mirdif City Centre and the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. They will be operated and managed by Al Tayer Trends, Al Tayer Group’s lifestyle retail company.
