European innovation for light-reflecting paint rolls out across region
Sigmulto Lumière, the newest innovation from leading Saudi-based paint manufacturer Sigma Paints, will soon be available across the GCC.
Launched in Saudi Arabia in November, Sigmulto Lumière, which takes its name from the French word for light, is a unique surface which displays a different appearance from each area of a room or exhibition space as it reflects light, whether natural or artificial, reacting to how the light and shadow fall upon it.
The paint was developed by Sigma’s parent company and follows on the heels of one of the hottest trends to come out of Europe in the last year.
The company has extensive research and development (R&D) facilities both globally and in France where Sigmulto Lumière was initially created. It was then adapted for the Middle East at the company’s regional state-of-the-art R&D department in Saudi.
“It reflects light on the painted wall subtly and discreetly,” says Sigma brand manager Steven Rijkaard. “It is not ‘in your face’ which makes it particularly suitable for large areas, but the fact that it also reacts with light and shadow means it looks great in smaller spaces too.
“It aims to give a feeling of French design since it is a concept that comes from Europe, inspired by the luxe environments in France, where designers and manufacturers were seeking something chic which could be used in both modern and more traditional settings.”
He added that since its launch Sigmulto Lumière has been proving to be very popular for majlis and living rooms. “It works well in places where people meet,” said Rijkaard. “The different perceptions people will have in different parts of the room make for an interesting talking point.
“It’s always difficult to predict how a new product will be received but so far the response has been very positive. People in this part of the world are very aware of new trends and it is always good for designers and decorators, who are our clients, to have a new concept to offer.”
Sigmulto Lumière comes in a palette of eight colours, which were developed in conjunction with the company’s designers and customer focus groups, but the paint can actually be made to match any colour a customer requires making it an even more popular solution in today’s demanding designer-driven times.
Following the launch of the shimmering new product in Saudi Arabia, alongside the exterior Guardian Shell product range, Sigma Paints held application seminars across the country to show its customers the best way to work with the paint.
“Sigma interactive seminars have become much awaited events. For this launch we conducted 15 seminars in 15 days reaching more than 2,000 trade professionals,” said Ira Linea von Witte, the company’s public relations and communications manager.
“Each began with an inspiring interactive presentation on the unique features and advantages of the system followed by hands-on application and guidance by Sigma’s team of technical experts and trainers.
“Sigma’s comprehensive training scheme is an inherent part of our input towards social responsibility and our endeavour to advocate quality and safeguard the environment.”
The seminars were followed by a succession of launch events at which dealers and salesmen were treated to a sparkling sales presentation and glimmering effective sales tools developed by Sigma to demonstrate Lumière’s aesthetic play of light and colour.
Sigma now plans to roll-out the launch of Lumière across the region and aims to sparkle up GCC walls within the first half of the year. |
